I am in the process of buying a car on a limited budget. I found two models to choose from a 2005 Taurus SE with 34,000 Miles for 8,995 and the other is a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis with 43,000 miles for 7,995. Which one do you think is going to be more reliable over the four year loan I am taking out. Your feedback is greatly appreicated!

The Grand Marquis- nice car- (BIG) but a great riding vehicle. the Taurus is OK but can`t compare in ride -comfort-amenities etc. You`ll get many years of good use out of the Merc. with a minimum of trouble, just keep it serviced regularly. Good Luck!

Both cars have a long history of reliability and are easy to maintain. I perfer the Mercury simply because it is a rear driver with a V8 engine. This platform has been in use for almost thirty years and has to be one of the most de-bugged combinations on the road today. The police departments all use a variation of the Marquis/Crown Vic for this very reason. The V8 will go well over 200,000 miles on the lower end if maintained properly, salvage yards have thousands of transmissions, AC parts, etc. on hand if expensive repairs crop up.

I would continue shopping. But if this is what you want I would go with the Taurus. They are a nice car and are very reliable. Ive seen too many Grand Marquis in the shop I work in and not too many Taurus's

.....The Taurus has a history of being a dependable car, but be sure too have a person preferably a mechanic, not just a person that claims knowledge of cars.....too check all the proper things to determine the car is reliable. Another thing it is newer and parts are produced for a car for ten years after it rolls off the assembly line.., be sure you find out, if you get some kind of warranty with this vehicle!!

The Taurus is a very good car, but here the Mercury is a good deal, very dependable.

The mercury sounds like a better deal to me for the amount of kms on the motor.

34,000m is a hell of a lot on a brand new car, also makes you wonder how hard the car was driven. It is a hard choice. I would go with care number 2, but you need to follow our instincts here. Usualy your first gut feeling is the best.

I agree with Shaq is Phat...don't buy either! Remember Ford just rolled the last of the Taurus's off the line. There is no market for them. Also as stated before, once you drive off the lot, neither car is worth anything. Go Honda, Toyota or even Hyundai.

get it checked out by a mechanic, making sure it's sound and straight. If it is, the taurus is a better value.

you will come across a effective 2000 accord for like $7000... Honda Accords are stable in my e book. I even have had 2 of them and would purchase yet another. they are properly rather worth the greater money. shop finding
