I work for an oral surgeon and we pull teeth for a living. If her procedure is a standard one, the actual process should take less than thirty minutes. The recovery period for each person is different, but we usually say 3 to 5 days. If she is a tougher person and a fast healer, it may be even sooner. Did the doctor put her on antibiotics? He should have. If she takes them, her risk of infection will dramatically decrease. Finally, SHE MAY DRINK THROUGH A STRAW. People that tell you otherwise have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Whether or not your friend gets a dry socket, which depending on how you look at it, do not actually exist, has nothing to do with what she drinks through. I can back that up with experimental and scientific evidence if you need it. Use ice for the first two days and then switch to heat for the swelling. Good. luck.

When she gets them taken out she shouldn't feel anything. Afterwards, just make sure she ices up and rests. It is better to keep talking though. This will increase blood flow and help her heal quicker. Also, stay sitting up and don't lie down. Sitting up will decrease swelling.
Pain all depends on the person. It may be sore or even painful, so make sure she takes her pain medication. Recovery can be anywhere from a couple days to a couple of weeks.
It shouldn't take too long to pull them out. It all depends on if they are erupted, impacted, etc. On average 30 mins to an hour.
Just make sure you follow the doctor's orders. That is the best way to prevent any other problems from developing.
The post directly below says that she can drink through a straw. Drinking through a straw increases the chance that she will suck the blood clots out of her sockets. If you do this, you re-open the holes that your body was trying to heal and you make your body start all over again. You increase your risk of infection. So, the advice most dentists will give you is to not drink through a straw. This way you do not even risk damaging yourself.

Ur friend is in for a long twenty-four hours. Any reputable dental surgeon will give her/him a major pain relief medication (Ibrup 800) a caine based mouth rinse, and at least something to allow them to sleep for the night. within a day the pain should be managed with the Ibrup. or Advil along with the mouth rinse. Biggest Mistake is self medicating with alcohol!! It truly hurts, but, it had to hurt bad to begin with so look at the extract as a long term remedy. I ate Cream of Wheat, Pudding, Jello, etc., but immediately rinsed with warm water and salt and repacked. Good Luck and do not drink alcohol.

I never had any problem with mine. I got 2 cut out and later on 2 pulled. I went to work after having the 2 pulled but I wouldn't advise that cause it bleeding all day and I felt awful (from the pain killer wearing off) but didn't feel any pain that I can remember.

Each persons experience is different. In my case my wisdom teeth had to be cut out because the jaw space was narrow. It was very painful. Lots of stitches and bruising. But the pain doesn't last long, and it was worth it in the end.

The procedure itself is not painful because you are given a local anethestic as well as gas to relax you or something to put you to sleep. Recovery is somewhat uncomfortable to mild pain. Take your pain meds as prescribed. Whatever you do do not smoke or drink from a straw. It will cause dry socket and is extremely painful!

when the pain killer wears off....ouch! it doesn't feel wonderful....let's put it that way.
she'll want to relax for a while afterwards. probably on pills to kill the pain if it's bad....not always the case.
i made it through with only mild pain....wife's experience was very painful.
