No. Love needs more than phone calls, emails and chat. It needs humans in the same place at the same time.
Exception: married couples with a spouse in the armed forces.

Sure it is quite possible. With the technology of email, webcams, cell phones, and good old letter writing, it can be done. Whether it is practical, is between you and the one you love! Distance and time can put a strain on a relationship, which is why is has to be more than a surface, shallow love. There must be strong committment, even if you are not married. It would put a strain on marriage too, but a strain doesn't mean it will break, but it will be a test! Lots of communication is very important, even if you run out of things to talk about, a short and sweet hello, how are you, cheer up is always welcome!
I have been in Baghdad, Iraq for 2-1/2 years, and I call my wife twice a day. I get to see her once for 2 weeks every 4 months. It's tough being away from each other and my kids. Although the 2 weeks helps, the daily conversations are like daily links in a chain that help hold it together. I don't ever plan to be away like this ever again, but is has made us appreciate each other more. I hope your love is strong!!

If you really love somebody, and they love you, then yes. I've done it - my husband was from Europe, and we met in 1996, and we were a world apart for lots of time and had to endure so many painful goodbyes at airports etc, but we spoke by phone each week, emailed everyday, and completely trusted each other. If it's true love, then yes, otherwise it will not work. There has to be some plan though, to get together eventually. Hope it works for you!

Yes they can- as long as you BOTH love each other- if it is lust then no it will not last, for someone will stray- as for Violet Pearl- if you are able to love someone that is away in the armed forces, what is to stop you from loving someone that is away to college? I have friends that have had their husbands cheat on them over seas...
It is in your heart if you truely love him/her then yes it is very possible- but if you have to second guess yourself, you might already have your answer. (unless you are second guessing the othter, and in that case you just have to take the risk and trust them) if you don't take the risk you may miss out on a beautiful thing after the two years is up- but you could also risk your heart.
I believe it is possible.

Not only do I think it is possible I know for a fact that it is. My fiance and I live 2.5 hours away from each other and have been dating for nearly three years now. We see each other every weekend and chat either on-line or on the phone daily.

No, *sigh* I thought I could do it, and I figured out how wrong I was, we ended breaking up over something trivial because we couldnt talk about it. For love to really grow and maintain you need more than phone calls you need actual contact with the person. Otherwise your relationship will be strained and will not last.

I know it is possible.
I dated a woman for 2 years while we were living 500 miles apart. We've now been married for 3 years.

For me if you love someone, I think its possible to keep up a long distance relationship....as long as you two trust each other...
From my experience..right now I'm having a long distance relationship...I'm in LA and my boyfriend is in Michigan...we had it for 3 years already.....
I know that its very difficult to having a long distance relationship...but if we trust each other and believe in each other...our relationship can be long
I hope your relationship can be long like us.....
