The sizing of clothes in the US is not standardized. You could be anywhere between a 30 and 38 inch waist depending upon the cut whether it's a petite or relaxed fit. Not to mention the fact that height does have bearing on the way a size 16 looks. If you are 4'6" and a size 16 you would be a helfty little lady. If you are 6'5" and a size sixteen you wouldn't be a bean pole but you'd be less compressed and look a heck of a lot better in jeans.

Yes. As I am married to a woman who has been a size 12 - 18 while we were dating, I am intimately familiar with the curves of a size 16.

well i'm a 13-14 and i need to lose some weight thats said by my doctor, so a 16 would be a little bigger but it all depends on the height of the person and if you mean 16 in adult or juniors....

You're not skinny. But it depends on your height.
Besides, you can wear anything from a size 12-18 in jeans. Sizes are ambiguous.

Sure! Bigger than size 14, but smaller than size 18. A nice size, I think.

Yes. It takes us a while to figure that stuff out, but I think most guys put it together by, like 18 or so.
