One guy said he was gay and was going to come out dressed in drag at his son's bar mitzvah. And people took him seriously! What the heck does it take to get people to do a little bit of parsing?

It is hard to take people serious when they play around. However, all I have is a persons word. So, I have to take them at what they say. Not add to it or take away from it.

Maybe some people just don't get that they're being played.

Maybe some people want to join the game and play others.

Maybe some people are just point-gaming.

Maybe these people need a forum of their own.

Some people need a higher level of intelligence bestowed upon them or at least a better sense of humor. LOL

I for one knew he was joking. But I thought his joke was in very bad taste. So I answered without the expected sense of humour for an insulting question.

BTW, if the question goes, don't look at me. I didn't like it, but I didn't report it either.

depends upon how one asks a question. I asked a serious question and received one serious answer and two funny ones. doubt if I ask many if funny answers are given to serious questions. if I don't know the answer I move on.
