Simple reason is that that Everclear is 190 proof (95%). 100% ethanol does not exist outside of specially prepared laboratory conditions (called "anhydrous") because it naturally attracts water from the air until it reaches an equilibrium state at 96.5%

Moonshine is simply the term for illegal home-made liquor. Generally it's anywhere from 40-60% (80-120 proof) though some clever shiners have rigs that will put out 93-96% alcohol...though if they're going through that much trouble, they'll cut it so the final product is drinkable.

I think it is, because Everclear is 90% alcohol, and Moonshine is meant to be 100% alcohol - properly made moonshine should be stronger than everclear.

I think they are pretty much the same thing. I think EverClear is just a brand name for what the oakies call "moonshine". Its just pure, unadulterated firewater.

No, since everclear is like 180 proof, which is almost pure alcohol.

I've had both....and believe me there is not much difference..They both will put you in a totally different frame of mind!
