Is it because this category has the most people because everyone is trying to persuade others that their lifestyle is the best?

It is because they haven't been faced with the question or
"Rawwwrrrrrlllll or I'll crush you" yet, so they are still in the process of finding there own spirituality. Maybe the world need you to go on a crusade, to ask these lost souls that question.
I know when I was face with either Rrrawwwrrrlll or being crushed it really made me take a good hard look at myself and helped me realize who I am. And it's questions like yours, Dufus, that truely matter in this world. Not some heebosh about God and Mortality...

This is theonly one i'm ever in. I like this one because this is the only place that I feel like people actually know where i'm coming from. I live in the south and it's mostly christian. I'm not a cristian but i believe in a higher power. I get, "How can you believe in a higher power and not believe in jesus?" Because i don't. "Then your and athiest?" No. "Well, your going to hell." Come on who said i believed in hell i didn't ask for that i was sitting here minding my own business and talking to my friend. You came over and decided to tell me where you thought i would go and what i will be doing.

I'm like most people. I just want to be left alone. I also want to know what has these peoples panties in a bunch. I have friends that are Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hebrews and Budists and we talk about religion and we don't argue because the root to everything is respect. If you respect the fact that someone believes this to their core then you will be open to listening to what drives them to believe what they believe. Some things you may see as a general life lesson and some things you may see as crap but that's with everything. Someone might say man this is the best peanutbutter in the whole world and i taste it and to me it tastes like feet. It doesn't make them wrong it just goes down differently to them.

Diversity is what makes the world go round. That's why even thought their is a Christian church there are some 2,000 different sects that all believe in christ but they can't all agree on the stories. Nothing is absolute or there would be " ONE " everything. Enjoy the diversity. we can all grow together without thinking the same.

I think that it may be because this is a very important category and there are many different viewpoints. If one believes very strongly that their beliefs are true, then they would feel obligated to share those beliefs with others. You can see from the many different answers that some people take this subject very seriously and try to give answers which contain a lot of information. Personally, I feel like if someone is serious enough to ask the question, then it should be answered with as much information and sources as possible.

Well, you get 1) the people who read this forum because they're interested in r&s as social and psychological phenomena; 2) people who are interested enough to know that they're atheist and are able to back that up with experience and reasoning; 3) people who are genuinely curious and searching; 4) cool religious people who want to share and learn; AND 5) fundamentalists you think they know all the answers already.

In short, the forum is serving several purposes and people who are here for one reason get caught up in other debates as well.

Probably the intensity of the differences.

For example: Christians believe in the divine nature of Jesus. Muslims do not. Muslims believe that allah is a true god. Christians do not. These two statements can keep the fires burning on here for days.

Maybe people just have something to say about it. I'm not trying to persuade anyone of anything, just answering questions. If someone's life is changed because of it, well to God be the glory!

Because they're the most controversal. And if you notice they have the most thumbs down, too. People get very heated about it. Oh, by the way, the questions on Bush get even more anwers and thumbs up and down.

I'm not trying to persuade anybody of anything. My only goal here is for people to stop nagging ME about their beliefs.

I think it shows how badly we as a people are in need of something much BIGGER than us. Although religion/sprituality is a hotly debated topic, it is also an elixir for us as a fallen people.

God lives in everyone. Some have acknowledged that...others are fighting the truth...but the reason everyone wants to know about God is because he is real and lives inside everyone.
