i am very good at comforting people and making them laugh, but i'm notso good with my bf, because my own feelings come into it. do you find this too??? i wanna be comforting, but whereas it comes so naturally to comfort my friends, i find it harder to know with my bf.

I absolutely do that. I also take everything personally from her. I can't seem to keep the balance and perspective that I have with everyone else. The only option I can think of is to try and distance myself but that seems so strange. You like them because of the emotions they create. It gets better over time but as long as I care, it is hard to stay truly focused on them and be totally supportive.

yes, i find this too. it's so easy giving advices but when it comes to me having a problem, i don't know how to help myself. this is because it's very difficult to picture yourself when you're in the situation. what i did was to look at myself out, like having a bird's eye view. you see, when you're too close, you can't look at things better. move farther and consider other people having that situation too. then ask yourself, what will be your advice? then if you have thought of the best answer, stick to it. this tactic helped me a better person. i know you will be too..

Oh yes, just about all the time. Same thing with giving advice....I can give my friends some of the best advice, yet when it comes to myself, my feelings come into play and all the advice I give them I forget.
