i use xp service pack1.i have done both chk dsk and scandisk nothing seems to work.

Scandisk shouldnt be on your system. If you ran chkdsk i hope you ran it by the following:
At a 'command prompt' type; chkdsk /? said will give you the
command-line parameters for 'chkdsk'.
Or (from Windows) go to the 'properties' sheet for the drive (right-click
drive and click 'properties'), there select 'Tools' menu where you will see
the 'Error checking' heading

Otherwise, see the manufacturers website of whomever made that hard drive and see if you can find any tools to use. You may have bad sectors.

run a checkdisk double click my computer right click your c drive go to properties,tools,check now, put checks in both boxes,click start,you will get a dialouge saying it will run on next start up click ok and restart it will take about an hour to finish you should watch and read the report because once its finished it will restart

do a repair install that way you won't loose any files not a recovery a repair install the 2nd R
