People will care in church and everywhere else you go. What matters is what the people you care about, who care about you, think.

Yes, In most church enviroments there are people who will care. There are varying levels of Christian maturity. Many people never move beyond outside appearence and being critical/judgemental of others. Even in communities where maturity is promoted and supported there are always new people comming in who have not yet grown to understand differnetly. To this end it is important to dress appropiately. This would mean in business casual or better business wear. Going out to the clubs clothing is not a good idea because many will be focused on you and not on the purpose for being at church which is God. Beach wear, bed wear etc is not a good choice either. sports wear and work clothes are acceptable if you are comming from or going directly to such an activity. They are actually a sign of dedication to God.

We also must remember that the best clothes a homeless person has are the ones on their back and there is no shame in that.

It depends on the church (the church is the gathering of believers, not the building). Some people are more accepting than others. If I am visiting an unfamiliar church, I always call ahead and ask or dress up a little bit more just to be careful. I have been to churches where people complained about someone wearing jeans, shorts, or flip flops as being "disrespectful." I don't attend that kind of church for my regular worship.

As a woman - YES; because of upskirting and cleavage. The church is not a place for that! Way to much distraction for men. Do not pour the whole bottle of perfume on you before entering the church. Keep your hair and hats under control, so people don't get poked in the eye.
As for men - yes because you should be clean, and respect GOD. You can come straight from the job site, but at least clean your face and hands. (Most churchs have a restroom.) Excess dirt, shoes - common sense.
Don't know anything about bible perspective? Sorry.

One's appearance says something about a person--most of all how much he cares about his appearance, but also how much respect he has for the setting and those around him. I do not look down upon people who cannot afford the most expensive suits and dresses, but those who would come to a wedding, party, or church dressed inappropriately, or in a sloppy fashion, would be telling me something about themselves and how they feel about the experience.

That said, the bottom line is: what is important is the person and their being there, not what they're wearing.

It should not matter. I mean you should be dressed though! However I think its really inappropriate if someone were to wear something that is too revealing- like very short skirts and halter tops- that type of clothing is not somethig God wants of us- He wants us to be modest. But as far as wearing jeans or whatever as opposed to dressing up- that should not matter. But if a woman were to wear something too revealing it would cause men to lust...and that is not good.

1 Timothy 2:9
I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,

-And I know the whole braiding of hair thing has become a big debate at times--I know the times back then were a lot different as far as that goes. But all in all, we are to dress modestly.

Even if people won't care, there are some things that should avoided, out of respect for coming in front of God: shorts, short skirts (knees should be covered, even when sitting), low-cut and unbuttoned (more than one button) shirts, stretch clothing. Shoulders also have to be covered. Also, one should wear "good" clothing, although not necessarily formal.

Yes they do care. They don't expect you to have on clothing that would cost more than you can afford but you are there out of respect for the Lord so should be dressed nice.

Yes, disrespectful clothing is a distraction and for some it can be a temptation. Why not be respectful? Clothing does not have to be fancy but it needs to be the best you have. It is God and he deserves the best. It should be clean in good repair fit nicely, and modest.

Eventually we are going to have to give up our hangups about being clothed and realize that when GOD put adam and eve in the garden they were naked and were not ashamed. It was adam who began to cover himself because he saw that he was naked and felt ashamed. Unfortunately we have kept the tradition of being ashamed of our nakedness. GOD is not ashamed of our nakedness, HE would be pleased if we would let go of our false humility and be free. To find out what it really is to be free. These are some of the things that are hindering the Sons and Princes of GOD from becoming all that our New Creation is.
