I think everything is permissible but not necessarily beneficial. We are free beings who can clothe ourselves in what we choose. If we decide to wear a butt-cheek showing mini-skirt, I don't think anyone will kick us out... but it won't do anyone ANY good.

The only thing the Bible says about this (New Testament, so no longer under the Old Testament law) is that women should dress modestly (1 Tim. 2:9). Some churches require formal clothes with the idea that it shows reverence to God, but there is no dress code in the Bible.

In the OT there were strict rules for priest and how they had to dress before they entered into the most holy temple to offer sacrifices.

There is no teaching except one in the NT that says how to dress and it's telling women not to expose themselves even a little. In other words to dress modest.

And as far as chruch goes the type of dress required depends on the position.
pastors are looked upon as having to dress nice(not always in a suite)
Someimes the worship team wears matching clothes just for respect.
But the congregation, as long as what they wear doesn't offend anybody or make anybody look upon them in lust then it's cool..

First let me say that I am a Christian who believes that what you wear has no bearing on who you are. I should be able to roll up into church with a t-shirt, cut off shorts, and flip flops. Comfortable in my clothes as I am in my relationship with God.
I don't think my Rolex wearing, gold drenched, diamond dripping counterparts would agree, but many of those high and mighties may look their BEST for Sunday and act their WORST Mon thru Sat. One hypocrisy of church I can do without.

Well, it depends on what you call "dressing up". If you're wearing stuff that too revealing (breast showing, skirts too high, pants so tight you can see cracks and crevices), I think that's ridiculous. I think if one is saved, living a Christian life then it should reflect that. It's about being holy. The Holy Spirit will lead and guide you in all things, if you pay attention. If a person isn't save, then let them do what they can until the get saved.

for a church service it doesnt matter how you dress, people tend to dress up, but its not a must, just a preference, and i think people shouldnt dress in a way that sexually entices someone, (Matthew 5 when Jesus speaks of lust in the heart) and 2 Thessalonians when Paul talks about not causing anyone to sin, of course Jesus talks about not causing anyone to sin too quite a bit. But it think there isnt a certain dress for a Christian, just i would advise against purposely causing someone to sin, but other than that, go for it!

I dont know first I would ask what is your definition of a christian?
You see I see myself to be a christian, but most christians would not. I dont go to church, because I think it is uneccessary to worship god in a building. When god is in our own building(our hearts) And as far as how a Christian should dress? I think that is up to the individual. Back in the day people thought elvis was sexual, and provacative too. I wish you well

uh they cant dress skimpy... bible says woe unto those who make their brothers fall to sin. if by dressing revealing, it creates lustful thoughts in the minds of another christian then that person who dressed revealing, causes her brethren in christ to sin. therefore woe unto that person!

The only thing that states what CAN and CAN'T be done is the law. No other regulations or legal or pseudo-legal dispositions can be above it.
