Addiction?

Question

Does anyone have any experience with hard drugs such as heroin? At what point do you get addicted? How long do you use it for before you get addicted? (I just put a friend in rehab).

I don't have any experience with drugs but I know you can get addicted to heroin the very first time you use it.

Depends on your willpower for one thing.
The strength of the drug and the chemical factors which cause addiction is another.

My brother has taken cocaine a few times before... but isn't addicted, and I never particular took him for a strong-willed individual. He is just a casual druggy though... and I wouldn't be surprised if the weed helped him stay off the crack...

In any case.... if you're wondering about yourself... I'd recommend never trying the hard stuff.... and especially not anything which you've heard of people having a habit for. Clearly those are the ones which cause addiction easily (after one or two tries)... and you're better off never knowing what kind of high they might give you because the lows are apparent to everyone and anyone.

Then again there are other drugs.... like magic mushrooms for instance.... that are Class A and you never hear a thing about them. My father used to sell them at Glastonbury festival every year.... And sure, they can be harmful, but its not as if they're addictive the same way.... so the harm is significantly less in the long run... (besides, nobody is going to pay through the roof for shrooms because just about anyone desperate enough could go out into the fields and find them personally... with the right knowledge [and yes, I have the right knowledge despite never having tried them myself]).

One time is all it takes. Once the person gets their first high....they can spend the rest of their lives trying to get that high feeling back. It never comes back.
