it will either work or it wont, but it is a gamble not matter what with friends because NO MATTER what either one of you say or believe, it will change it forever

I have been friends with my boyfriend for a long time before we started going out.
A great friendship is the way to a great love.
There's nothing to lose here. You'll end up regretting it if you don't atleast try. Because relationships flourish from friendships. Those are the best kinds of relationships. You two already know each other. You don't have to go through the whole meeting-new-person / getting to know each other stage.
If things don't work out, atleast you can say you tried. And if you two were really best friends, you'll will go back to being just that... friends.
