Adopted by a single parent?

Were you, or someone you know, adopted by a single parent? What effect did this have on you and did you grow up wishing you had two parents?

Although I was not adopted by a single parent I was raised by mother only as my dad died when I was three years old. At times I resented the fact that the majority of my friends had two parents. And although it may sound a little strange even if they were being punished or consequenced for their behaviour I would think to myself how lucky they were to have a father that loved them enough to chastise them. Now that I am older and supposedly wiser I am grateful for the fine job that my mom did in trying to raise me with proper morals and norms. Although I did not always heed her advice when I was younger I still appreciate it very much today.
