Which god do you believe in, and why? How can you say you don't need a Bible unless you have first read it? How can you say you don't need access to a church unless you have first accessed a church? Until you give us a few more clues, we cannot answer your first "Why is that?"
The second "Why is that" can be answered easily; you could be shutting yourself away, cutting yourself off from the war, penury, evil and greed in the world. But if that's not the case, and you are involved in the world, the answer is simply that you are doing a great job of protecting your family from those kinds of problems. Good on you, if you are. You sound like a decent bloke.
But you went on to ask another Q after stating that God is not there to answer Qs or requests. (Spot on! God does not need us for anything, and he needs nothing for himself.) The Q you asked was, "How many times has God answered you?" I would ask you, how many times have you asked God for anything? Was there a time when you prayed, wondered and asked, but the heavens seemed as brass? Did you conclude that God was silent, or disinterested, or unable to respond to your prayers? Does that account for you turning in on yourself and your family? Did you have a church connection but the church, in your opinion, failed you at some time?
God has answered me more times than I can recount, though never with any kind of imagined (or even audible) voice. His Holy Spirit has convicted me, prompted me, held me back... whatever God knew was needed. The Bible has been inspirational to me, as well as warning me, and testing the motives in my heart. The Church (I'm now talking people) has given sweet fellowship and opportunities for serving others and engaging in public worship. Together we reach out to a needy world with the good news of Christ. The Church is the only organisation that exists for the benefit of non-members.
Friend, I appeal to you to reconsider your entrenched stance. God is nearer to you than you think. He is only a prayer away.

I think you have made a good start, but I think it is also important to recognize that you are part of a society and a community. You seem to recognize this too. You don't say so in your question, but you asked a question in a community forum. I applaud your decision to place value on your own life with your family. At the same time, your family's security does depend on the security of your community- however large or small you perceive that community to be. My community has to include as much of the world as possible because I'm an American consumer in a global marketplace and I want to recognize that there are people around the world who produce the goods and services upon which my modern life depends. I am safe in my home, but a major part of my personal safety depends on the security of the place in which I live and on people I might never meet.
I hope you'll understand what I mean by this. All of us in the society of the world are responsible to ourselves and our families first, but we also have a responsibility to our world, because this is the world that our children will have to live in.
Peace and blessings to you.

You are a good person and seem to follow your heart. I think that is what God is. He is within us and the goodness within us. The bible, I think, is a guide line. It seems to be the Book for all Christian religions. I was born a Roman Catholic, and believe my home is my sanctuary, and all who visit are welcome. I feel I do not need to go to church to keep my faith. I don't be nasty to others, I was brought up to treat all (animals & humans) with respect. There is no greed or bitterness. I think there is enough of that in the world. Kindness and goodness goes along way.
I think by the look of your words, you are doing a great job!

A very interesting question and it's very encouraging to come across someone who takes their family responsibilities seriously and conducts themselves with joy as a parent. Such aspects to parenthood can be so difficult to find.
However, knowing God but not having a relationship with means you miss out on his blessings. You think you have it good now? Try drawing closer to God and see what he can do for you. The next time you speak to one of Jehovah's Witnesses, ask them this question and see if they give a satisfying answer. If not, then fair enough

I,m glad that you love your children that much.
I ,m also glad to hear that you believe that God exists.
The fact of the matter is without his book the bible you can never truly get to know him. I know you say all you need it to see the miracles in your children but the very creator of humans has things to say in his word the Bible or why would of he of bothered to give us this book.

Good for you, one does not need a church to know and worship god. I myself believe in god, but I found that religion just wasn't for me either, so I just do the best I can and continue to praise the big person above.

Just believing in God is not what it's all about. Satan and his demons believe in God.
As Christians we are called to a relationship with Christ. A relationship through prayer, learning from the teachings in the Bible, and fellowship with other Christians.
Without those elements we are mearly believing as Satan does, that God does exist.

Go you! God is found through engaging with the world and through the love and care for those around us; it does not need to be shackled by dogma or scripture.
Long may you continue to enjoy its presence!

You believe in God, you're wasting your time.
But what you have found is that you do not need to believe in this pointless idea...your life is fulfilled and being led decently without myths and legends.

You are free to believe what you want. That does not mean what you believe is what pleases God. Why do people think they can decide how God wants to be worshiped? How can that work? It is God who informs us how to worship and please him. It is our option to follow his direction or not, but we may have to suffer the consequences if we choose poorly. That said, I am glad you are happy.
