Firstly the answer depends one whether you are referring to cloning on an individual cell basis or at the organism level (ie Dolly the sheep).

There are two main types of objection to the first type of cloning, those relating to pro-life arguments and those that are concerned with unethical manipulations of cells.

The pro-life debate argues that all cells are potential life, the decision of whether or not those cells are allowed to grow or are terminated lies with God, not a scientist.

The other argument argues that cloning may grow out of control and unethical experiments may be carried out.

On the organism level...

Well human cloning finds itself facing similar arguments, pro-life is obviously going to find problems here as life is a privilege given only by God.

From an ethical view its quite clear that complete human cloning is wrong, refer to the movie The Island!

I think Christians object, not through fear as God will always be infinitely more powerful in their eyes, but purely because they believe the gift of life is precious and from their point of view cloning is a violation of that gift.

Personally I think the anti-cloning and stem cell research movements are damaging the potential of scientific and medical research.

One reason, certainly, is that people don't want to accept that the essence of a person can be replicated. There is a fear in cloning that the creation of a new human being that is a replica of an old one does not fit in comfortably with their idea of "spirit".

Of course, if we realise that what makes a person who they are is as much due to nurture as it is to nature, it becomes far less of an issue. The clones are every bit their own person; even when their physical and genetic base is identical to somebody else's, their lives and experiences are distinct and unique to them.

It's a moral and spiritual issue. Spiritually who are we to recreate what God has created.

Morally, we are treating a creation of life like a parts and supply store. A cow is bread to provide for our needs. We would be treating clones like we treat animals, but they are human. Does that treatment stop with clones or does it bleed over to a total disrespect for life as we know it.

All this and there is no tangible evidence that any of this would be useful in fighting a disease.

Cloning is a good idea but in reality i dont think so the country with the richest economy will rule the ways, which is not real a good idea is as you can use cloning as ways of biological wars think about everything as a opposite. I am all for it if it works safely.

You can try cloning but God is the best of everything and what He does is good. try cloning lets see if the person even lives, i mean can we stop a computer virus, can we cure HIV, can we walk on water or fly into space without any limitations? Then how can we clone and expect it to be perfect.

I know what your saying and if scientific developments can help with the current issues of today, cancer, HIV etc im all for it, although i think they try and run before they can walk sometimes and rather than trying to push the boundries i think we should stick to tying to get a result on the current problems affecting the world right now.

i think people are scared of cloning because they think that if they are cloned they ll no longer be unique and therefore not special anymore and as we all know all people want to be is special and unique , if your cloned then you are no longer an individual and cant be special
