Not AID like humans do.

Cats get FIV which is called Feline Aids. It's not exactly the same.

I've never heard of an equivalent in dogs.

Cats can contract FIV which is similar to HIV and they are not the same virus at all. It is a virus which suppresses the immune system of the cat and can make it more vulnerable to other oportunistic infections, just as the HIV virus does in humans. Many lions in Africa carry the virus in their bloodstreams and it does not seem to have adverse effects on them. Cats with the FIV can survive it in a protected environment and with measures in their diet to keep the immune system strong.

I do not believe there is a similar virus that dogs can contract.

Research indicates that the AIDS virus initiated in monkeys and chimps and then mutated into the form that is currently attacking humans. There is no indication that a strain has developed which attacks cats and dogs...

Yes, they can... but it's not like humans AIDS. It's different, and we can't get it from them... or them from us. It's a differenty type in them.
