All diets should be long term or the weight loss will be short term. Start shopping on the perimeter of the grocery store, lean meats, fresh fruits and veggies, and whole grain breads. Avoid buying processed food. Eat 5-6 times per day, every 2-3 hours (for example, grab and apple between breakfast and lunch, so after lunch, you've eaten 3 times). Drink 64 oz of water per day, and don't just count out 8 glasses in your head throughout the day, fill up two litres and keep it in sight, so you know exactly how much youve had to drink. If you think you eat too much at a meal, drink a full 8 oz of water BEFORE you start eating and chew every bite as if it's your last meal. Eating slower usually makes you eat less. Dont skip breakfast! They earlier in the day you get your metabolism going, the more you burn throughout the day.

Start exercising every day, even if that means just a brisk 20 min walk around your neighborhood, or just vacuum like youre running a race.

Good luck!

the best long term diet is not a diet. It is a lifestyle change. Eat more veg., leaner meat (chicken), cut back on breads, drink your water everyday and have an active lifestyle ( you dont have to be a member at a gym). Learn what portions are right...that is our biggest problem in society! Eat breakfast. And if you treat yourself let it really be a treat!! Like christmas or a holiday (as long as the treat is just that one meal..not all holiday season).

All bodies work differently, so that is dependent upon individual chemistry.
