And religion is IN politics, which makes it worse!

I think that religion has politics and that causes problems in the church, but religion is, to me, more about what you believe in.

There are more than enough people in any aspect of our society that are trustworthy, hardworking and capable of acting in acceptable ways. Unfortunately, the ones that stray from acceptable patterns of behavior and/or engage in illegal activities are the ones that get the media behavior. This bias colors our perceptions of the general classes to which these people belong.

For every Rep. Foley, there's a Rep. Claude Pepper. The man represented his district for decades with (as far as I can remember) not one single taint on his record. For every pedophile priest, there are dozens of dedicated religious persons who try to help their fellow humans.

Trust is earned and should be given on an individual basis. Generalizations are dangerous as they can blind you to the real worth of people.
