because they have a sickening act of being right. Parents intuition. They've loads of life experience and as my dad tells me 'old head knows best'. And as much as I hate to admit it hes right. Your parents are your true friends and will be there for you through good and bad. When friends turn their backs your parents will be there to pick up the pieces. Respect their wishes, but if its going to make you unhappy, talk it through with them, and come to an agreement. Lovbe them and cherish them while you have them.

Why didn't you give us more detail? Is it a particular wish? Is it in relation to your life or to that parent's own life? Are you being asked to respect a parent's right to make decisions for you or to guide you, or are you asking whether you should allow your parent the right to make decisions in respect of his or her own happiness?

As you grow older, you need to learn to be independent from your parents. It will remain important for you to listen to them patiently and consider their views, even if you disagree with or disregard them. There are bound to be times when your parents will give you advice that you think is wrong, especially when you are older. It may be difficult for your parents to accept that they can no longer actually tell you what to do.

Equally, we all have to realise that our parents are human beings, individuals with feelings and needs of their own. It may be that they are not happy with their lives and want to make changes that we strongly disagree with, for example one parent may decide not to go on with the marriage. This can cause all sorts of repercussions, with the "abandoned" parent perhaps trying to portray him or herself as a persecuted victim and wanting the children to side with him or her against the other parent, who they want you to see as "bad". Or it may be that in this case the children themselves decide to set themselves up in judgment over their parents, which frankly they have no right to do, and it may be that the "abandoned" parent has enough dignity and integrity to discourage this. Ultimately we all have the right to live in the way that makes us happy, and none of us can have rights over other human beings.

Sorry, but if you had given us more detail, you might have got a shorter answer that would have been more relevant to your situation!

depends on the wish but because they brought you into this world and sacrificed everything for you and most of them want you to be a success and have a decent life, it mite seem like they're fighting you and it sucks to admit they have your best interest at heart but they do.

Because they are telling you things for your own good. They don't want you to get hurt and they don't want you to get into any trouble.
