There are many websites such as this http://www.babynames.org.uk/ to help you pick out names, is there possibly one that helps you pick out surnames (if you want to change them) If you dont know one can you give me a bunch of surnames and what culture/nationality they come from (e.g. Walker, Smith-English Mohammed-Islamic etc)

Errr person with the most names (which includes any websites you post) who posts first will get the 10p

I don't know what genre of stories you are writing but this is a link to some name-generating software. Most of the names tend to be based on ancient historical cultures or fantasy / sci-fi themes. Maybe not quite you were looking for, but you might find it handy.

I have installed it myself and it seems OK, no viruses / spyware etc. If you are 'techie' enough you can modify the .nam files to change the way it puts the names together. The help file gives details.

Alternatively, there are various lists of surnames by culture in Wikipedia:

Hope this helps!

Hello dear!
The possibilities are limitless!
To be able to assist, you have to give us some characteristics!
DO you remember the joke of WWII, when the US Intelligence prepared fully and perfectly an agent, he spoke perfect German, new slang, everything that a German would know and he was dropped in Germany. In no time he was arrested! Why? Because he was African American!
