Everyone is an INDIVIDUAL. There are good christians and bad christians. There are ALSO good atheists and bad atheists. Why are atheists so judgemental and view christians collectively as ONE WHOLE GROUP? A "group" is made up of "members" ~ and members are INDIVIDUALS....

Wow! A lot of people really disliked your question. It could have worked out better if you had included the word "some" before each place you name a group. The thought is there, but not quite clear enough. It does indeed sound like you are taking issue with ALL atheists in your question, even though the additional information tells a different story.
But seeing people as individuals is an important thing nonetheless. Maybe you will agree that no one has a right to make up other people's minds, only their own.

Wait, I'm confused...How can there be such thing as a bad Atheist? An Atheist doesn't necessarily believe in anything at all?
I think you're being the judgemental one, not all Atheists are the same. I am an Atheist, and I fully support the Christians, even the ones with the crucifixes up there butts :).
But then again, I'm a very open minded person. And yes, everyone is an individual. Why does everyone see people of certain religion as a group? Because that's pretty much what they are...
I mean, put it this way, you have, A GROUP of Christians, A GROUP of Wiccans, A GROUP of Muslims, A GROUP of Jews, A GROUP of Buddhists, And so on...
Just because there are bad [insert name of religion here.] or good [insert name of religion here] doesn't mean they are a "separate group"...
All the Christians believe the same things, all the wiccans believe the same things, and so on and so forth. Meaning, they are basically part of a GROUP.
And a group is not per say a bunch of members...But more of people who agree, and disagree and have the same views on same things...
It has nothing to do with any religions in specific...x_x.

I don't think I have ever seen so many 'thumbs up' votes in favor of atheist answers, very strange?
However to get on to your 'lumping together' exercise!
All atheists can be lumped together is so far as they all have one thing in common- they do not believe in God!! So I am quite happy to be 'lumped' with that group!
Just about all religions believe there is a God, I think the Christians may have been singled out more than other religious groups because it has to be the most unbelievable religion every thought up by man! (Oh yes, by man)!!!
If an atheist tells you he 'may' believe in God or he is 'not sure' then he is not an atheist!
If a Christian tells you he doesn't believe in the full details of Christianity, inc the Holy Trinity, he is not a Christian!
I do understand that we are all individuals, (I have even known a couple of Christians that had a sense of humor)!!
I'm pretty sure all atheists know we are all individuals, its just that the religious group believes in God, the atheist group doesn't, sounds simple enough to me, whats the problem??

first of all, I don't think there are many real "atheists" out there - just about everyone believes in something, even if it's a hopeful feeling that things will turn out for the best.
Second, like it or not there is a christian religious community that can be very close-minded and judgemental in it's own right. I think this contributes to the stereotypical view of the "Christian."
You have a good point though, we ALL need to treat each other as individuals.

We are feel to have our own beliefs. But a lot of Christians are extremely judgemental toward atheist. Not all are bad. There are good and bad individuals in each group. It is not that we are closed-minded, but our minds are made up. It is the same way with religous people. To me those who believe in god are closed-minded and do not wanna look at the world. It goes both ways

Atheists are just believing that there is no God. We are not closed minded. Some of us, like myself for example, not only believe that there is no God, but that there no Devil as well. We as a society are cruel enough, we do not need a Devil.
Also, christians tend to be very closed-minded about the fact that atheists do not want to believe in a God. We do not need a God to believe in to live our lives. Some of us are doing better than some so called christians. I say that because we do not say that you have to believe in what we believe in.
I cant speak for all atheists, but I can definitely give my point of view. I have had some experience with religious people, and a few of those people were downright rude. Is it not said in the bible that you should love thy neighbour as a brother, or something like that? I have even had a christian holding a grudge against me for a while now. Is that not hypocritical?

First off let me say that Cathy C needs to have her head examined. So Atheists don't believe in helping anyone else except themselves?
I find that deeply offensive. I help people on here all the time as well as in my real life. Just because I don't believe in God doesn't mean I don't lead my life in a Christian manner.
CreoleGirl, I'm afraid I don't think you are being objective about this. We're not all bad, I don't want you to stop being a Christian. I sometimes wish I had faith, it must be great to believe that there is an all father looking down on us and guiding us. But the basic fact is that I don't believe in God and to say otherwise would be to lie which I don't believe is the right thing to do.
I'm not perfect by any means and I don't believe I am or anyone is.
And I have to say you are lumping all atheists into one group with your question. The very thing which you accuse atheists of.

Don H: First i would like to answer your long rambling which is not based on any sort of real logic but more on a fantastical fallacy in logic.
I will simply answer in this way so you can understand. if you look at a painting i am sure that the painter likes using a variety of color and loves creating complexity and give us options but the artist likes it to be known that its his work enough said.
As far as Atheists. I love all Atheists, and i would implore you to take them as individuals not as a group just as they should us Christians. Most atheists i have spoken to have not been closed minded at all, on the contrary they are very open minded.

You do realize that by grouping every single atheist into a group and calling them closed-minded is judgmental too right? No one group is completely perfect. You have some insane, uber-judgmental atheists, just like there are insane uber-judgmental christians. Unfortunately, it's usually the uneducated, misinformed, obnoxious members of the aforementioned groups that tend to speak out the most.

The problem is the arrogance and ignorace of some religious fanatics constantly bombarding others with their personal views. Telling someone that they are going to spend eternity in a fiery pit because of some imaginary man standing over them with a shovel is not a way to keep an intellingent conversation going. Then resorting to a book that has been changed and edited throughout the centuries to assimilate cultures. Each branch of christianity has decieded to take the bible and hack it to pieces to serve their own agendas. Then when an earlier copy unedited by modern man turns up (the dead sea scrolls) turns up it must be the work of satan. The Scroll of St. Thomas Aquantis tells some of Jesus' last teachings where he states that a House of God run by man will be corrupt because it is in mans nature to do so, to find him just look beneath any rock or behind any tree blah blah blah. Atheists as a group survey all the information in front of them and just cant chalk up all the wonders in the universe to an imaginary man. And taking into account all of the knowledge, and good people that were ground to dust because of the bloodlust of those that spread christianity(and other religions) they should be defensive and wary of anyone preaching. Thousands of years ago we had batteries, steam engines, traveled the world, performed brain surgery, had light blubs, on and on the list goes, till the abyss that is modern religion swallowed all of that knowledge of our ancestors, controlling the truth in an attempt to control the world.
