Ok first i would download a program called Utorrent and install it. Then i would go to www.mininova.org. Next type in the linux distrubution that your looking for or just type in linux. On the right hand side you will see something that says seeds. These are the number of people that are sharing a complete file. If it says 0 seeds then you can't download it. Next just click on the name of the file that you want. It should bring up the save dialog box where you choose where to save it. Last just click on the file that you saved or just run it after it's downloaded. This should popup the utorrent client where all you have to do is choose where to save the finished file and then start downloading. BTW to get the Utorrent client go to www.utorrent.com. Good luck! I hope i could help.

you can get linux from many different places but the best is probably www.ubuntu.com. You can download linux as an iso or have it delivered. You then burn the iso to a disk and shut down your computer. You then restart the computer with the ubuntu disk in th cd drive. The start up will run the cd. You can run the linux operating system from your cd drive which means that when you take the disk out your computer goes back to windows. The onlyproblem is if you don't have a very quick cd drive the operating system might be a bit slow.
i hope this has been of some use
