After you have met them and shake their hands or whatever, then give it to them. Don't do it before you are actually introduced, but do it right after that. Oh, and make sure it's a good wine!

Although this is a rather tough question not knowing anything about their personal tastes, I have always found that champagne is a safe bet. Some of the better known brands, like Moet et Chandon White Star or Veuve Cliquoet are safe bets, and unlike Dom Perignon or Roederer Crystale, they won't break the bank. Athough people tend to differ on tastes between whites and reds or dry or sweet, I've found after years in the wine business that a nice bottle of French bubbly is almost always a good choice.
As to when to present it, a good champagne should be served chilled, so I would offer it as soon as you come in the door so they can get it on ice. Besides, that will help with their first impression, right?

After the introductions, but before you actually enter the house. Once you get in the house, they will want you coat and start talking to you. You don't want to miss your chance! I like a riesling wine. It's a white wine, german. Find out whant nationality they are and get the wine accordingly. If they are italian, get red wine! Good luck! Make sure you wrap the wine with some sort of wrapping paper and put a bow on it. It will show that you put more time into the gift!

i might see in case you will hit upon out from acquaintances of theirs or kin what style of wine they like. using fact distinctive kinds style distinctive. Merlot is often as 'everybody likes merlot' style of element so in case you do no longer locate out a particular type then circulate with that. yet once you do no longer know no remember if or no longer they like pink or white...you are able to finally end up spending $30 on some thing they the two re-present or throw out.

Yes I agree right after handshakes and so on... Try to find out what their taste is. Maybe a Chianti would be nice. I would recomend Machiavelli Chianti Classico 98. If you cant find 98, 99 or 2000 would be fine as well but anything after that might be a bit to young for drinking.

You should present the gift immediately upon arriving. Give any household gift to the mother (flowers, wine, food). If you bring something along more masculine (like you know the dad likes Chivas, or cigars, for example), you can present those to him immediately after giving the mom her gift. Ladies first though.

ok, try this, put the wine down your pants right before you get to the door, when they open it up, say hello like nothing is going on, then let the father use the classic line"is that a bottle in your pants or are you just happy to see me"...then take it out...the bottle that is...the Dad will love you forever and you will have broken the ice.

I believe that the time would be at the door but after the pleasantries and introductions are over.
