I know of couple songs that would be good. One is "Find your wings" by Mark Harris and the other one is "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts. They are beautiful songs and perfect for this occasion.

Forever Young by Rod Stewart - Great Song!!

The lyrics are perfect for an occasion like graduation.

May the good Lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
surround you when you're far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you'd have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
Forever Young

ETC.......... You get the point! Congratulations on the graduation!!

I think the song "Hero" is a good graduation song from a mother to a son. I'm not sure who sings it but the words ar elike this,"And when a hero comes along, with the strength to carry on, and you cast your fears aside, and you know you can survive. Or when you feel like hope is gone, look inside you and be strong, and you'll finally see the truth, that a hero lies in you...."... "It's a long road, if you face the world alone, and no one reaches out a hand for you to hold.... "etc.

I love your idea! I think a nice song idea with be 100 Years by Five for Fighting. Here are some lyrics:

I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind

"Good Riddance (Time or you life)" by Green day. That is a perfect one Here are the lyrics. It is on the album "Nimrod".

GREEN DAY LYRICS

"Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)"

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

The song is longer than it seems It is acoustic guitar. Melodic if you will. It isn't a "hard" sounding song. It's pretty I like it.

Hope this helps! :)

Music from Cirque DE soleil. Stay with me here. For two big reasons. No lyrics and the music does not date itself. Years from now when he listens and watches the CD (if we still have them) the music wont place it on a song that may be an oldie by then. I hope that helps a little.

There are a lot of songs I can think of. The first is Vitamin C's "Graduation". It's kinda girly but it captures graduation. Another song that I like is Green Day's "Good Riddance (Time of your life)" This song brings a tear to my eye! If he likes the musical "Rent", "Seasons of Love" is a beautiful song!

Some older songs include:
"In my Life" by John Lennon and Paul McCartney
"It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" by Boyz II Men

A newer one I like is "Photograph" by Nickelback

I hope that helps!

If he's into rock/punk there is a great song by Social Distortion called "reach for the sky" and it talks about living life the best way you can and make the most of every day. Another good one is "Time of Your life" by Green Day.

"These Are Days" by 10,000 Maniacs

Lyrics:
These are the days
These are days you’ll remember
Never before and never since, I promise
Will the whole world be warm as this
And as you feel it,
You’ll know it’s true
That you are blessed and lucky
It’s true that you
Are touched by something
That will grow and bloom in you

These are days that you’ll remember
When May is rushing over you
With desire to be part of the miracles
You see in every hour
You’ll know it’s true
That you are blessed and lucky
It’s true that you are touched
By something that will grow and bloom in you

These are days
These are the days you might fill
With laughter until you break
These days you might feel
A shaft of light
Make its way across your face
And when you do
Then you’ll know how it was meant to be
See the signs and know their meaning
It's true
Then you’ll know how it was meant to be
Hear the signs and know they’re speaking
To you, to you
