I just recently got sick. I have a scratchy throat, my glands in my neck are very swollen, my body is all achy, my ears hurt, my nose is all runny, my gums are sooo sore and I brush twice a day, and coughing. I basicly feel like crap! I need to know what I can so to get over this and what is it. I dont know if I just have a cold or the flu or what. I have never experienced all of these things at the same time and never the gum thing. I want to know what meds to take over the counter. I cant go to the dr. because I have no insurance. Oh and I dont know if I have a fever because I dont have a thermomiter.

Try www.webmd.com - they have some great advise online. I do think, however, that you probably need to see a doctor. Does your town have a free clinic or health department? I sincerely hope you are feeling better soon. God Bless!

I get that from time to time. It feels like you got kicked in the mouth right?? You probably have a sinus infection. I get them all the time.

Warm showers help. The steam has a soothing effect on the sinus tissue. Vaporizors help too. Tylenol, sudophed, and theraflu will help with the other symptons. If you don't have insurance, but know a doctor that can help you by calling in a prescription over the phone, generic penecillin is less than $20 out of pocket. Most of the time, these things need antibiotics to clear up. If you let it go too long without treatment, you can cause scarring in your sinus cavities and the infection may spread.

Good luck. It will get better within a few days, but it sucks right now.

Listen, honey, you need to see a doctor. If you do not have insurance, please visit an emergency room. They are under the obligation to provide emergency care even if you can't pay, and I am sure they could give you samples of medications too.

Normally, if you have a fever, you got the flu. Body pain, and all that sounds like the flu. You'll need lots of fluids, Tylenol to treat the symptoms and bed rest. If it is an infection like strep, you'll need antibiotics and you can't get those over the counter. It is the season to get your flu shot too. I believe they charge about $35 or so, if you are uninsured. You can't be running a fever the day you get it though.

Please, do me a favor, and call infoline. Find your nearest community health center, where you may qualify for some type of health care, or insurance. Promise me, OK?

Sounds like a really bad cold or the flu to me. Both aren't curable by antibiotics. Something to look for would be bright green snot (I know it sounds gross), and a temp.. You need to get a thermometer they are relatively cheap (not $10), or borrow one from someone (you can clean it with alchol before and after you use it), if you really don't have the money. If you have a temp. you need to go to the doctors because that is a sign of an infection, which you do need antibiotics for. Try the hotty-totty drink, it will make you feel alot better (although it don't taste great, add lots of honey or sugar to it), or just take a shot of wiskey. Over the counter cold and flu drugs usually make me feel worse, they make you shakey and high strung (at least for me). Hope this helps.

It sounds like some sort of viral infection and it could be, as others here have said, to be flu or strep throat. I would lean more toward thinking that it's flu.

It'll probably go away on it's own, but I would see a doctor if it gets worse or doesn't go away within a reasonable amount of time. Aspirin will relieve the symptoms.

By the way, depending on where you live, there should be free clinics, although they may not be very friendly and their may be long waits involved. Also, you can always go to the emergency room.

Go to the emergancy room.

You need an antibiotic.

Don't worry about the bill. However much a hospital billing representative would like to make you beleive they can collect the money, the reality is they cannot.

The FTC passed a guideline a few years back that states that medical expenses can no longer be counted on a credit report.

So, lets say you go to the hospital, and cannot afford the bill. They may call, they may threaten, but the reality is they have no legal recourse to obtain payment.

They may even violate FTC regulations by sending your account to a collection agency and hereby get the charge noted on your credit report.

All you have to do to remove that is call the major credit reporting portals, equifax and 2 others I can't recall right now, and TELL THEM (don't ask) that they have to remove that from your credit in accordance with FTC Guidelines.

Get better!

The reality is that if you have a cold, there is nothing to make it go away. Normal cold medicines can help to relieve some symptoms. Pretty much the same thing for the flu, but if you have had these symptoms for more that 4 or 5 days, you need to go to the doctor anyway. An ER visit when you develop pneumonia is going to cost you a lot more than a normal doctor visit.

You are displaying some classical symptoms of an infection of some sort, swollen glands throat and armpits groin area usually are caused by your lymph glands working overtime (white blood cells etc) Try a course of tammy flu, if it feels like a flu but like with all antivirals or antibiotics you have to stick to the prescription in terms of when and how much. Use your cell phone to remind you.
Maybe its just the winter bug, but if you can find some doctor who will take cash go there.
I love this space but I really don't think this is the place to seek "medical advice"

Sounds like a really bad cold. I suggest that you drink hot tea with lemon and sugar. The caffeine in the tea will help with some of your symptoms. There is a section in the yellow pages called ask a nurse. Look that up on the net or in the phone book and get some professional help. If you start getting worse, go to the emergency room at a local hospital.....they have to treat you with or without insurance. Don't take chances with your health because of money. God loves you and I care about you.....even though I don't know you.....I have been there. Get well soon.

Yeah, I would think, go to a doctor. I'll tell ya one way. If you are in New Jersey, in the United States, you can actually earn quite a bit of money on a job and still qualify for Medicaid from the state.

It takes alot of money to be a poor person here, but they help you, though.

I would think, even get just alittle fresh air and sunlight, a few minutes. If it doesn't bother you to much, cause it is fresher air, and can keep you're spirits up. Though I would have said that a few days ago when it was 70, but a few degrees of above 30 in the daytime shouldn't hurt, and can help. There's not many germs in air this temp., like in the house.

Take vitamins to, until you can get to a doctor. Because iron may help fast, it may be anemia. A multi. There's alot in them. Afterall, they are prescribed for pregnancy, so they must help people who aren't pregnant, too.

First of all, you can buy a thermometer for like 6 bucks at the drug store. You can also consult with the pharmacist for FREE. It sounds like you have the common flu bug. You can take over-the-counter flu medicine for the symptoms, get plenty of rest, stay hydrated with water and orange juice, and eat healthy foods. It will run its course, but it could take a week or more before you feel normal again.

If your symptoms stay the same for a long time or get worse, please go to the emergency room or seek out a free clinic near you.
