If it is the first time you have highlights, only go a couple of shades lighter....'highlights' doesn't mean it has to be blonde....highlights are anything lighter than your natural color. Since it is fall/winter, you don't want much of highlights. If I were you, I would do this in the spring!

Being a hairdresser I would suggest a light carmel brown. The carmel color will go well with all eye colors and skin tones. I would also ask the stylist to mix it up a bit and put some high lights and low lights to give more contrast and depth.

Maybe dark blonde of light brown, start with it not being too obvious. Take that from someone who knows.

perfect example my hair is like a dark brown and i got like a kinda bondish redish tint type highlight put in my hir and its so pretty i know it sounds like "what the Hell" but it does really look good
