I got a speaker box in the trunk for two 12 inch subwoofers. I was thinking of getting two 3,000 watt subs, but that may be a bit much. And it's expensive. What do u think i should get? I want some real good bass.

Actually i would get the two 3,000 watt subs even tho its a bit much. Theyre just expensive. $450 each. Are there any that are that powerful and a bit cheaper?

First of all, you have to match subs with the internal volume of each chamber in the box you already have. Putting the wrong subs in the wrong box will sound horrid or even cause damage to the subs.

If your willing to scrap the box for another one for the subs you want, that'll be the way to go.

Here is some good info on enclosures (and other tips):

All the answers, and the only one who is really helping you is Sparky. Read his post, because he is correct. If you are going to use the box that you already have, then first you have to make sure that you get subs that'll work in that enclosure. You could buy the greatest subs in the world and they'd sound like crap in the wrong enclosure. Trust me, I've been selling and installing car audio for awhile. I've seen $150 subs in the right box with the right amp out perform $600 subs in a bad box with a bad amp many times. There are a lot of good companies out there and if you check the specs they are bound to have a sub or two that'll work just fine in your box. JL Audio, MTX, Kicker, Eclipse, Hifonics, Audiobahn, Memphis, Fosgate, AudioPipe, Niche, the list goes on and on.

Sony X-Plod subs have good bass and are fairly cheap. Also might try a fairly new company called PowerBass. They're a factory direct dealer so you would probably have to buy online. If you want the best sound and are willing to spend some dough you might check out some used Audiobahn or Treo subs. You can usually find subs fairly cheap on ebay.

well, depends on what type of bass you want and what kind of sound you want. And aslo what kind of car/truck you have. But I live by rockfordfosgates. I love them. I have two in my car and same with my other cars before that. I know that is what comes stock in the new 2006 mitsubishi eclipses. (I was jelouse) but now i have a 2006 hyundai tiburon and it comes stock with Infinity's and they make some great sound. good luck and have fun chosing.

I would check Ebay. You can find some great deals on there. It may even be possible to find the identical subs you want but for cheaper.

Back when I was into speakers JL was kick butt. That was ten years ago though. I am sure they have gotten better over the years.

You will not go wrong with JL audio and won't even need that much power to break out your windows.
