GET A SOLID EDUCATION!
Become involved with your community and help as much as you can, even to the point of running for office. There are young people holding the office of mayor and they should be! Being young is a positive!
BUT - you need your education, sorry, but true.
Of course volunteering during your studies could help with your studies, as many will tell you.
Check with your family, then your city counsel/city hall. There are programs that need so much, some may be perfect for you - while your in university/college.
The suggestion of joining the military is NOT for everyone, and you MUST think it through, as I did before such a commitment. Leaders are needed and that means an education, then you will be an officer, and in a position to REALLY help people. Enlisted people are very busy - very - an there are few hours to get into college while serving. Enlisted people are not in charge of what they do, only how they do what they are told to do. Few talk about this. Officers tell enlisted what to do, and we had trust in them to protect and supply us to accomplish their goals.
GET YOUR EDUCATION FIRST!
Give blood.
4H club.
Scout leader.
STAY LOCAL IN WHATEVER YOU DO, first. (See if you like it. Unless you get into a national level position - then grab it and help nationally.)

Always follow the laws of the land, Except when a corrupt, greedy government comes to power despite what people wanted. If this Government is wrecking your country civil disobidiense is a duty. If curropt men give evil orders say no. Refuse to be sent to fight illegal wars started on false pretense for the greed of a few elite,
If the elected officials will not lead then go back to "WE THE PEOPLE.....MARY

Join the Military.
Or vote responsibly, get educated, participate in serving your community and world. Take up a cause: like the rainforrest preservation, cleaner air and water, racial equality, health issues like smoking.
Get up and get out and SERVE.

Become a volunteer firefighter or emergency medical technician.
Join your local fire/ambulance company, they always need volunteers!! I know from experience!!
You can train with them, and even if you find it's not for you, you can always help out in other ways. Fundraising, auxiliary, etc..
The feeling you get when you respond to an accident and help get victims out of cars, or fight a fire and save someones life or property is unmatched by anything else!!
