He is a teenager i assume and if he is thats how most teenagers behave andlike to upset their parents. Hormones are going crazy hopfully it will just be a phase like mine was. Also could be for attention and teenagers tend to be really gloomy and depressed BUTTT at the same time we are a nation where most of the population is becoming depressed and suicide rate is increasing. It sucks because we dont know if they are being serious or looking for attention. My advice is...really keep an eye on him if he brings something up again or tries to hurt himself.. call the police and they will decide if he needs to be put into a hospital. If he was only looking for attention i can pretty much promise you that he will not pull any of those stunts again. lol If he was serious well then hopefully he gets the help he needs. I was put on effexor for a year and it has reallllllly helped me big time!!! short term side effects ( sleepy) and after that I felt great! After being on it a year my doctor weened me off it and I am doing good on my own. No one has to stay on medication forever just until it fixes the chemical imbalence if it can. Good luck!

Yeah do the prayer thing too ...... But when he's home talk about the cemetery thing ... see if he likes the quiet .. the landscaping . or is it really the long dirt nap he finds attractive?
it may have been a random attempt at humor or sarcasm .... dialog is the cure .... if he's depressed ...see if a teenage "I gotta huge Zit" thing or perhaps personal relationship issues in his life...... Try not to assume ... we all know that makes things worse. If its more than you feel comfortable with get some trained professional intervention.
He your kid ... no one knows him better ... be there for him.
Good Luck !

Did he say it in a joking manner? Was there even a chuckle or a slight smirk after he said it? If not, I would definitely be worried. Maybe you should ask someone more around his age to speak to him and find out whats going on. If you dont want to ask around, remember you are his mom. Go to his room and give him a hug and say, I love you son. I'll always love you and Im proud to be your mom. If he looks at you weird kiss him on the forehead, hug him again and leave. If he is feeling depressed he knows that you love him and that you care. That could really help. GO MOM!

Yes be concern. It is better to wrong about it than to say "I thought.............."
Check on him. Ask questions of his interest. Listen to his music rather you like it or not.
Find out why is depressed. Please do not go in thinking he has no reason to be depressed. Just be a listening ear.
If you can not talk to him, I know there is someone he can talk to.
I will leave you with this:
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lead not to thine own understanding
In all thy ways acknowledged him and he shall direct thy paths.

Try making his favorite dinner or take him to his favorite restaurant and ask what he meant by his comments. Try to be honest with him and hopefully he will open up. If he was serious, call a suicide hot line or social services for help.

I think you should be very very concerned. First of all Pray for him and then take him to a doctor or a mental health facility and let him lay on someone couch and let him talk about what is going on in his life.

I would be. Try and gently coax out of him what's wrong and suggest that he see someone.
