Either sit and pick out some, or add potatoes and the other ingredients in approximately similar proportions. If you think you have twice as much onion as you wanted, then add another whole recipe of all the other things, and have plenty to go around and plenty of leftovers.

In the alternative, serve it with lots of onions, and see if people sit and pick out the excess, or eat it the way it is. You can always pick out the excess in your own serving, but others may like it like that.

Put the whole potato salad in a culander and try draining everything off of the potatoes, and start fresh with the potatoes. They should wash off ok, after all they started in a pot of boiling water.

Don't worry about it . . . onions have a way of 'mellowing out' in the salad and they will only add crunch and not the spiciness it has now.

You could always add more of everything else. It will balance it out, but of course, you'll have a lot more potato salad.

Slice some cabbage real thin and dice them all up and put it in the salad, it will calm down the onions!
