I have found that environmentalists are the least tolerant group of people in the world. Instead of trying to force people to be or act like you, just live the way you want and maybe your "good" example will rub off on them. That is the only way you can get people to "care" about the environment, is to be an example.

After years of lying down on roads in front of nuclear bases, recycling, being vegetarian, not using Nestle etc. and not really knowing if it got the message over, I ended up working as an Environmental Enforcement Officer. So now I go out and FINE people for not doing their bit!
I mean its not much to ask is it? I only want you to pick up your litter and your dog **** and not flytip all over the place.

Get them interested in re-use by suggesting they join Freecycle (www.freecycle.org). Freecycle links people who have stuff they no longer want or need with those who can make use of it, and it's all free. If you're having a clear-out and there's stuff you can't take to the local charity shop, for example, put it on your local Freecycle group and anyone who's interested will e-mail you back. Then you just arrange a time for them to come round and collect.
It's amazing how non-environmentailists suddenly become interested in green issues when a scheme involves either free stuff or having someone come round to collect something they'd either have to dump or take to a charity shop! On FC you see stuff like PCs, furniture, the occasional car, kitchenware, etc, etc.

Make a presentation of what will happen if they do not change their ways and email it to people, or hold a public demonstration.
e.g. if you don't decrease usage of coal that we is being used currently , there will be none left by the year 2050 (this is true by the way)
You may be able to swing some peoples opinions and views, and you may not.
Good luck though.

Sorry sweetheart, but there are certain people who aren't gonna change. I think if you really wanna make a difference you should design a workshop for schools and approach Primary schools to let you go in and speak to the kids.
Get em' while theyr'e young, hopefully they will whine to thir parents too!!

incorporate it with the teachings of your relgion, that way, they will have another sin to avoid. Give you a clue, exodus 20, the 10 commandments?"thou shall not kill!". Whah! throwing this small piece of candy wrapper is killing the environment? rediculous!!!!!!!well, direct assault and accessory to the crime in the commission of murder is the same, so is throwing minute garbage is.
In my religion, islam, God stated in the quran that He created man to be the vicegerent or caretaker of this earth, 2:190, i'm not sure, but it's there in chapter 2. Muslims really should know of this.

Honestly - you can't get people to care for the environment. They either will or they won't. Trying to convince someone of the importance of the environment is like arguing the existence of God. I agree the environment is important, but it's one of those topics that people have to decide on their own.

Sadly you can't make people change if they don't want you.
But you can do your bit. Remember just because the people around you don't care for the envoironment it dosn't mean that you can't.
Keep up your good work, and you are certainly not a freak.

Some people are total a$$es and don't care one bit. Focus on people with opinions and feeling rather than heartless beasts.
