180 degrees. Elongation is the angle between the Sun and the planet as observed from the Earth. Since Jupiter is a superior planet, with an orbit outside of Earth's, Jupiter can be on the complete opposite side of the planet from the Sun. The inferior planets, on the other hand, like Venus, are always in the same general direction as the Sun, and have maximum elongations smaller than 90 degrees.
