What is wrong with that? If a woman is raped while married it's adultury. And a sin.

I am not Muslim but I do have my opinion. Like any other religion, this has it's many flaws, probably more so than any other because they do not respect women and they are not considered equals. To me that sounds a lot like ignorance. Twisted is the word that comes to mind when I hear the word Muslim and I do apologize to anyone if I offended them, but until someone can show me a positive side to this or any other religion for that matter, I will keep thinking the way I do. I heard the Muslim religion is supposed to be a peaceful one and all I see is the opposite, maybe I am wrong and maybe I am generalizing but from my perspective this is what I get. In the eyes of God, supposedly, we are all equal and loved the same. Things like what this article states, leaves much to be desired of any religion, there is not justification, period!.

This cannot be justified, but remember there's a difference between the Islam and the Sharia. The latter is derived from the first, but is filled with all kinds of cultural legislation from backwards countries, or countries where family law is more important than individual law. Not all the muslims agree with the sharia, and they too are unhappy with these stories.

What a load of rubbish. Women are highly respected in Islam and if a woman is raped in a Muslim country the punishment is death. That's if her family does not get to him first, they would kill him themselves and i know this for a fact my husband is from a Muslim country and that's exactly what would happen. To rape a mother, a sister, a daughter , a niece is the worst thing you can do to a woman, Muslim or not.

It has nothing to do with Islam. In India, especially for traditional families, the stigma of rape affects both Hindu and Muslim women. Hindu women are forced out, shamed, and ostracised just as Muslim women are. It's the culture, NOT the religion.

That is wrong.
I am NOT Muslim, but I think that according to Islam rapists ARE punished if the woman can produce witnesses attesting to the fact that she was indeed raped.
My question then is this:
Why isn't the woman's word good enough? And what happens to her if there were no witnesses, and the rapist claims the sex was consensual?

U R asking us, we say it is wrong, horrendous, inhuman, unjust, unheard of and nothing to do with Islam. This is definitely a poor village with uneducated or extremists, may be they think that this woman has become 'filthy' after this incident, so she had better stay away from them. I don't agree with it at all, I'm only saying that what might go through their minds. Damn them.

Fundamental Islam interprets the law in their own way. It does not mean all Muslims agree with what happened at all.

it's not Justified that's just dumb.

here's the punishment for RAPISTS according to Islam.

A woman who has been raped cannot be asked to produce witnesses; her claim shall be accepted unless there are tangible grounds to prove otherwise. To insist that she provide witnesses is akin to inflicting further pain on her. If anyone refutes her claim of innocence, the onus is on him to provide evidence, and she may simply deny the claim by making a solemn oath, thus clearing herself in public. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The onus to provide evidence falls on the one who makes a claim, and the one who denies (the same) can absolve himself or herself by making a solemn oath to the contrary.”

Second, the punishment for rape in Islam is so harsh, now many people see rape as the worst crime (Even worse than murder sometimes). Here:

As for a spouse who witnesses his or her partner committing adultery and the other party denies it and they are unable to provide witnesses, they are, if they so desire, to part company by repudiating each other by engaging in what is known as a solemn oath and prayer of curse (li`an). It is described thus in the Qur’an: “And those who accuse their wives, and have no witnesses but themselves, then the testimony of each of them shall be a testimony sworn by God repeated four times, that he is indeed truthful. And the fifth (oath) is that God’s curse be upon him if he is lying. And it shall avert punishment from her that she testify a testimony repeated and sworn by God four times, that he is lying. And a fifth (oath) that the wrath of God be upon her, if he has spoken the truth” (An-Nur: 6-9).
