that's funny. You never hear anyone saying, "Oh, he would never do that. He's a good Atheist man!"

Some people do pull this nonsense.
What's worse is that some people believe it.
I have an anecdote. While working at an arcade, I was approached by an irate mother. Her son told her that he was playing the crane game when it stopped, dropped the animal, and continued on its way. Now, I had worked on these things for a while; I knew how they worked. Animals fall out of the claw all the time, but that is normal. It doesn't just stop and let go.
He was probably 9 years old, and anyone who deals with children knows how they sometimes will fib to get what they want. But the mother was adamant that he was telling the truth. She didn't know how the machine worked, but she was willing to believe his claim of its behavior.
And then she said it. She actually said it. "My son would never lie to me. He's a Christian!"
I successfully refrained from laughing in her face. Her son had a free pass. He could do whatever he wanted. As long as he still went to church, he had his mother fooled.
Sadly, yes, people do pull that stunt. And when someone says, "He wouldn't do that; he's a Christian," I will no longer refrain from laughing in his face.

It shouldn't be. Christians have sinful desires, just like everybody else. We can assess risk somewhat by observing someone's proved character qualities. Not all people are equally likely to fall to the sin of molestation, for example. Often we make those sweeping judgments that you mention about people we really don't know well. Still it's very possible for someone to hide their sinful desires, and often people pretend to be Christians or religious in order to gain trust.

no, sadly we have all sinned and christians are not exempt from that. we know many of good christian people who have sinned and the bible is filled with these accounts also. david was a man after God's own heart and yet he murdered and committed adultery. yes so called christians molest, commit adultery, murder, lie, steal. God will take care of it, he is the ultimate judge.

Being a christian is more like a great big red flag waving and shouting "don't trust me, I'm a christian!" Anyone who believes in devils and demons is clearly not a rational thinker and capable of any insane act. Beware of the christians, they are unpredictable, unstable, and mentally unbalanced. They do have a free pass, their scapegoat, the devil made me do it!

Oh, no way! People think that being a Christian makes someone sinless but that is quite the opposite. We Christians still sin. And if someone who claims Christ is molesting children they are still subjected to the laws of the land.

It's not a vindication, it's more like a character reference thingy.
Of course, Christian character is taking a little bit of a hit these days.
That's why it's better to not say you are a Christian, but to try to act like one.

Actually its the other way round, someone may profess themselves to be a Christian all their life, go to church, pray etc etc but if they ever do anything wrong all the Christians will state without irony that he was never really a Christian because Christians don't do that sort of thing!

Not necessarily. Christians can fall into some pretty nasty sins if they're not careful to watch out for the Evil One. We're not perfect. But true Christians strive to steer clear of sins like that. But some people's faith is weak and many do fall.

Basically... Being Christian seems to be the same as being a good person. Obviously this isn't always true.
But yeah, you see all these political campaigns "I go to church every Sunday." And we're supposed to think they're saints who can do no wrong. It's bull.
