Yup, just pulled ye olde credit reports and someone got gas, electric and phone service with my social. Of course, these bills were not paid and have been sent to collections.

I'm disputing, of course -- I can prove that I was living in CA during the time these bills were run up in CT -- but man, this is frustrating. I'm sure I'll convince myself that it's better for me to find out now instead of a couple years on down the line, but tonight... Well, my grandma would wash my mouth out with soap if she heard me.

There are three main credit reporting agencies - you MUST dispute it with ALL 3!!!!!

Transunion
Equifax
Experian

Each has a certain part of the country as their specialty. If you only clear it with one of them - if you ever moved it would haunt you again. Most creditors report to all 3. Now when you clear it with one they are SUPPOSED to contact the other 2. but, double check. You are allowed one free credit report every x months (x depends on the state and the credit reporting agency), if you filed a criminal report you get more free credit reports.

Is there a question here? Not sure if I missed it or not.

Someone got my husband's debit card number a couple of months ago and spent all of our money and then some on some Italian website. I couldn't believe it, thousands of dollars on some website that I couldn't even read. I was fuming. I completely understand your frustration.
I hope you have a better bank than I did (notice the past-tense). They gave us a huge run-around, and it took forever to get reimbursed.
Good luck to you, and I hope it gets cleared up quickly.

My home insurance policy offered identity theft coverage for $25 per year. It provides up to $25,000 to cover expenses of hiring a lawyer and another professional to handle all of the work of fixing your credit when someone does what they did to you. It won't help you now, but it sure can help in the future. My insurance company is Allstate, but I have to believe that others are offering similar protection. Good luck.

1.) Contact any of the reporting agency's and have a Fraud Alert put out. (good for 90 days.) They will contact the other agency's.
2.) got to this websitehttp://www.consumer.gov/idtheft/con_steps.htm

a million. placed 4 spheres on the two sides, the single that strikes up or down is the single with the off weight ball. Then, with the chosen 4 balls, 2 on the two sides, then a million on the two sides to hit upon the wonderful off weight ball. 2. you're splendid, stay with A b/c the probability is equivalent.

I am sincerely sorry. One of my best friends just had this scenario done to him, but cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Please don't beat up yourself. There are evil people that live in this universe. Unfortunately, they take advantage of others, but YOU are the victim; and time will move forward for you to heal!!!!!

Sincerely,
Patti
