No need to be scared, just keep your focus on Christ. Having said that, it won't be easy between now and the Rapture, but the Lord promised us that His grace would be enough for us no matter what (2 Corinthians 12). Check out the first link below for a verse-by-verse exposition of the events leading up to the rapture.

Grace(not Law) unto you, and peace(not division),
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

It's what "deceivers" say: Luke 21:8(Mt24;Mk13)
And so the exhortation is: go ye not after "them".
Higher exhortation: come out from among them
Eg of a deceiver: Jack of the 'Impe' family (JVI).

As for rapture theories, it's too late for all such.
Last(not just past) millennium had two ends.
The false, of false/true ends, was called Y2K.
Had 3 1/2yr(42 mo) countdown, from Grenwich.
Said countdown to end began in June of 1996.
So 3 1/2 yrs later 2000, and 7 yrs later is June 2003.

It's now 2006AD, the 6th yr of the "third day".
Third day is also the seventh in John 1 & 2.
http://www.godshew.org/ThirdDay.htm

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

The end, of the God shew, is already written.
It's notably a saved(only) by grace(only) end.

If I do your home-work, I should at least get the 10 pts.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

That would be the book of Revelations. The actual word rapture is no where in the bible. There are a lot of people who don't believe in the rapture simply because the word is not in the bible. The bible uses caught up not the word raptured.
There are also a lot of people who don't believe in the trinity because the word is not there.

people have been forecasting the end of times for millenia - literally
beginning just a few years after the jesus cult began.

The idea of the rapture is taken from 3 or 4 verses of the new testament. It really began to catch on with the americans and most UK churchgoers will have first heard about 'rapture' from american sources such as ameriican books and the media. It has been parodied in such places as 'The simpsons' and 'South Park'

the bible is nonsense, but taking a few verses out of context and using them to create (practicall) a new religion is even bigger nonsense

I'm actually pretty certain that's only an excuse Evangelicals use to justify doing nothing to save our Mother Earth from the terrible destruction we're doing to Her, and to rationalize her fighting back. Hey, we don't have all these hurricanes because we've tampered with the temperature of the planet, it's because the end is nigh!! Hey, we can burn all the fossile fuels we want, and we don't have to worry about the consequences, because then end is nigh!!! Hey, let's just fish the seas empty because only "pretty" fish are palatable, it doesn't matter because the end is nigh!!!!!

Yes, I'm an angry Wiccan.

The word rapture does is not in the Bible (at least the translations I know of).

It stands for the time when Jesus will return in the clouds and call His people(bride) to come up to Heaven with Him. It is mentioned in Daniel and Revelation.

The people that will be taken are those that are in love with Him (doing what He wants, according to what is written in the Bible), both those who are alive and also those who are dead. Also young children may be taken up also (those young enough not to understand what sin is).

If it scares you then read all the stuff before revelations, and make a decision for your life based on that. As far as the end being close, It clearly states several times in the new testament that no man knows the hour of Christ's return. So all that matters is whether or not you're ready.

It's the same old scare tactic bible-thumpers have been saying for centuries - literally.

They keep saying it'll happen in our lifetimes; it still hasn't. In the year 1000, people all over Europe went off to the mountaintops to await the end... on new year's day, they all felt foolish. In 1666, because the year comprised one of each Roman number in decending order, this was "proof" the oelrd was about to end.

In the 1970s, Falwell and the other fundies outlined an entire roadmap of how the End Times would play out through the last few decades of the 20th C - the "seven year tribulation" during the 80s; what wars would happen, when the alleged rapture would take away the saved, etc.

They were wrong.

The doom-sayers are always wrong.

Don't lose any sleep over it.

We really can't know, although I can tell you for certain that there willbe no "secret rapture" of true believers before Jesus comes bakc. He's only going to come back ONCE, not twice. People get this belief from Revelation and various other parts of the Bible. They take verses literally that are not meant to be. The whole book of Revelation is written in the apocolyptic style of writing, which is not a literal form. Hope this helps.
