Unfortunately I'd have to say yes... there are just so many close minded people scared of change and liberal thoughts that there would probably be a big controversies over it. Then again if it gets in the paper or on the news it might become even more successful with all the free advertising. I would say go for it regardless of the repercussions and negativity that it would generate... what hurts a community will ultimately make it stronger.

Unfortunately, yes. Just as I've known immoral atheists who rip pages out of Gideon Bibles whenever they stay in a hotel or motel, there would be immoral religious people who would feel justified vandalizing or destroying an atheist community center.

On the upside, there are many believers who would be appalled and turn in any fellow believer who bragged about doing it, just as most atheists would turn in a fellow atheist who bragged about burning down a church, synagogue, or mosque.

I doubt it'd ever successfully finish being built in many parts of the country. Too many fanatics would be doing "God's work" by torching the unbelieving heathen's abode.

Probably vandalism and NSPA*, but just get plexi glass windows and walls that paint comes off of easily and it would be fine. (Also, sound-proofing it wouldn't hurt.)
