nothing, it goes in and then comes out in time...it does not block up your digestive tract as everyone assumes.

Our bodies move most materials that can't be digested (like gum) through the digestive system and out of our bodies in a bowel movement.
In rare cases, swallowing a large mass of gum, or many small pieces of gum over a short period of time, can block the digestive tract. Blockages in the digestive system are most likely to happen when gum is swallowed along with other indigestible things (like sunflower seed shells).
Although people cannot digest gum resin, they can digest the things that have been added to chewing gum, such as sweeteners or even medications (think of the nicotine gum used by people trying to quit smoking). The body absorbs these just through the act of chewing. This is where chewing gum can affect a person's health: When a person chews a lot of sugary gum, the calories can add up.

It goes down into your stomach and is digested in the usual way into the small intestines and then the bowel and comes out the other end. Chewing gum is not very easy for the stomach to digest and you could get a digestive problem.

Swallowing chewing gum doesn't affect your body in any way. It goes in and out as normally as any food does.

I had gastric bypass in 2002, and my doctor does not recommend us chewing gum because if we swallow it it can clog up our small intestine, and we would have to be rushed to the emergency room. He also said before my surgery that when people swallow gum that it stays in your stomach for 7 years before it is flushed out of your system...yuck. =)

It is broken down by the enzymes in the stomach and then sits in the wobble sprocket just above the left knee.
As you eat more, it turns to celulite or cold sores.
It can make you impotent and assist you jump.
