I keep reading answers to questions on this site and alot of folks are just plain mean. Are you this way in real life or only on the internet where you don't have to look people in the eye?

It is much easier for them to be nasty because they are not face to face with the person asking the question, but then some people just enjoy being horrible & stupid on this site. Best to just ignore them, that way you don't give them satisfaction & encouragement.

I think a lot of people see the Internet as a forum to be as judgmental, hateful, and obnoxious as they can because of their anonymity. In this society, we are so pressured every day to have automatic, friendly responses for every interaction in our lives. Have you ever told anyone at work how you're REALLY doing when they ask you "How are you today?" Of course not. You just smile and say, "Fine thanks, how about you?" Because that's what's expected of us. I think that for some people this manifests itself as a sort of pent-up frustration, and the Internet is their only outlet to just say what they're really thinking as an answer to someone's question. However, I don't believe this gives people the right to be intentionally cruel, hurtful, or profane.

On the internet you can be anything you want to be, a coward can be a tough guy, a man can be a woman, ppl can be say whatever they want because they know they don't have to answer to that person. I don't think ppl would say half what they say on the internet as they would in real life. Ppl should just have pity those who feel they have to look all "bad" because they said a smart *** comment, not take it to heart.

Its true, some people are nasty, but this is just a question and answer forum, and shouldn't be taken to heart. It is a place where people can express their opinion, and although some do abuse it, it is a free country, and you do have a right to your opinion. If it seems that rude, then simply click "report abuse" and let yahoo be the judge.

Some people answer just for fun, they don't take all this Q&A too seriously. We are all different. What is "mean" to you, can be funny or silly for someone else. We are not ONE, enjoy the difference between us! Its good to be open minded

Some people are mean, and some people are too honest. I fall into the latter sometimes, and then feel bad. I am actually nicer on here cause you are complete strangers.
