When you say "usatisfactory service, there are no two sides. If the Principal is not getting what they expected when they empowered the Agent, they can and should retract the authority. If the written agreement entitles the agent to a termination fee, I'd argue that it is invalidated by poor performance.
An Agency is subject to the rules of any other contract. A does this, B does that. Agent serves, Principal pays. If Agent doesn't serve, Principal doesn't have to pay.
