He can be sitting in your lap asleep or resting comfortably and often wants attention afterwards.

It does not sound like a seizure. If it was than he would not be dashing around he would be still and jerking. If he is asleep when he is doing this he is probably dreaming. Cats dream a lot. My cat dreams all the time and she jerks, hisses, growls and dribbles at the mouth and when she wakes she often wants attention from me. Keep an eye on it and if you are overly concerned take him to the vets.

The cat could be in pain possibly. A vet told me recently that when a cat or dog are in pain they cannot touch the affected part or ease it as we would and their immediate reaction is to try to run away from what is causing the pain. It could come from feeling sudden stabbing pain somewhere and then afterwards he wants to be fussed and reassured. Does not sound like a seizure at all but I would get the vet to check him over

If this is new behavior, I would call the vet. It could be that he is in pain somewhere and it's not you he's hissing at but the pain is upsetting him and he's not sure how else to respond. I'd call and have him checked to be safe.

First, is this new behavior for him? Second, have you introduced any other pet to your home? Do you have a small child (or an adult, who purposely hurt him) that could have scared him?
It sounds like fear from something.
Does he have his rabies shot? That is very important.....

Some cats are just prone to spazzing out. Is there catnip around? That would do it.

I had a cat who did that. One day he attacked me, leaving vicious scars on my chest & arms. Take your cat to the vet immediately for your own safety.
