It is oil on board and has a labelon the back George Armfield (fl 1840-1875) waiting for Master. I paid about £60.00 for it around 20 yeas ago. Have seen similar paintings by this artist but can find no reference of this one.

"Waiting for Master" is the title of at least two paintings recognised to be by George Armfield.

The two I know of are available to buy as prints (see Links 1 and 2 below).

Burchard Galleries in Florida sold quite a few George Armfield paintings in a sale in March this year, which went for prices varying from $3500 to $1500. This could give you a decent indication of the value of your own painting. (See Link 3 for the sale list, pictures and sale prices)

You could have made quite a nice profit if it is an original and I would seek a professional valuation and insure it accordingly as soon as possible.

I have also attached two further links showing some of his other works and a short biography, which might be of interest to you.
