Like so many other things in life, love is a matter of faith. Not necessarily Christian faith,(believe it or not, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus etc. fall in love just as intensely and or just as long as Christians do) but faith that the other person is willing to love you.
Without this faith, this willingness to believe without proof, their will be no love for long, as the constant requirement of proof of love will wear the other person down and they will leave.
