I think it's good that he has stepped down from his church and from the other organization he was leading, but Christians also need to cut out the gossip and gawking and pray for the guy. Check out the blog entry below that I just posted about Haggard.

Haggard has already admitted to some things privately to his associates.

You think Priests and ministers are perfect? At least 15% of the Catholic Priests in America have allegations of pedophile abused pending against them. The Priest that Foley had issues with is retired on an island far away and still gives occassional Mass to the local Church.

Jim Bakker of TBN aleggedly raped Jessica Hahn and the tryst was arranged by Jessica Hahn's own Minister from her own Church! In any event adultery was committed because Bakker was married!

Jim Bakker's replacement got caught paying prostitutes to underss for him and he had to resign.

Jim Jones took a congregation of Christians to an island to set up a commune and instructed them to drink poison put into kool-aide. Some of his associated gunned down people, including a news reporter (who got it on film) and a politician who was investigating the operation.

In the 1600's in Salem, Mass Christian witch trials were held and young teenage girls were burned as witches, giving the town and the church a very bad name. Salem changed it's name and the church members disperssed.

Robert Schuller's Crystal Cathedral had to pay back taxes, penalities and interest for holding shows and performances for a fee that were not religious in nature but purely commerical.

Give man a chance and he'll try an get away with anything.

I think the fact that the accuser says he has phone messages, 2 $100 bills with Haggards fingerprints on them, and is willing to take a lie detector test - are all pretty damning.

His associate pastor has already said that Haggard admitted to him that at least some of it is true, so I think there is not much point in speculating whether the story is made up.
I'm sure "the meth made him do it."

If something were not wrong, he wouldn't have stepped down.
