Why did you breed her? There are tons of animals in shelters that are dying daily, not to mention the ones that are drowned, killed by owners who don't want them, and those that are turned loose on the street to fend for themselves.

Make sure you have a whelping box ready for her. Tall enough that the puppies can't get out, but low enough that she can easily get in and out of the box. Line it with newspaper and put it in a comfortable, quiet spot.

She will push the babies out herself, and should open the sacks, bite the umbilical cord, and clean the pups herself. If not, you will need to do this or the pups will die. If you see any green, or dark brown discharge during labor, take her to the vet immediately!

Sometimes, first time dog moms will kill her pups, so be sure to keep an eye on her and see that she allows them to nurse and she isn't aggressive to them. If she is, you will need to remove the pups from her all together, and you will need to bottle/dropper feed the pups puppy formula (not cow's milk) every 2-3 hours for a while.

After she has this litter, please get her spayed. http://www.friendsofanimals.org for a cheap spay certificate.

It takes a female anywhere from 56 to 63 days, depending on size of litter to deliver pups. Most on here will tell you 59 to 63 days, but I've had several females deliver at 56 days, but was a big litter. When your pet arrives at her due date and start going into labor, you need to have her a big box lined with newspaper ready, put her in it and as her contractions get hard, she will start tearing the newspaper and scratching around. It takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour from the time her contractions begin for her to expell a pup. After a pup is born, she will then start removing the bag of fluid the pup is born in and cleaning it up,just be sure when pup comes out,she starts at the head area first, and if she doesn't then you must remove bag from head of pup,as pup will drown in fluid within seconds, after that just leave her alone and she will do the rest.If a pup isn't expelled within 45 minutes to 1 hour after contractions begin, you must call your vet,as a pup could be lodged in birth canal and she will require a C-Section.

well bitches are preggies for nine weeks. I have a dog that has just had pups and you will see her nesting just b4 she is ready to give birth. keep her warm and feed her food that has plenty of vitamins. I do not know were ur from but clinivet is a very good dog food it is dear but worth it. feed her adult form at the min and when she has her pups feed her puppy food as this has all the vitamins etc she needs to feed the pups. when her pups are two weeks old worm her and worm pups at 4 weeks old. again keep pups warm to when they are born. the one thing i am going to say to you the same as the vet told me do not expect them all to live in the litter you will get a runt this is the smallest one and weakest one get some milk substitute for them incase you have to feed them yourself. i hope this is enough information for you and helpful. good luck with the birth of the pups as they will be a lot of work but enjoy them i am they open their eyes around 10 days and about 14 days they will start to walk. enjoy the pups and again good luck

i settle for as authentic with abby. a number of persons do no longer hit upon that this domestic dog remains a dogs so that's aspects are small and underdeveloped though. dogs do not look people so that they do no longer have the particular equivalent promises as all and assorted else. you word the little peek and concept it develop into once a boy, notwithstanding the boy would have that centred field better effective up the tummy, even as i female's is a lot further south

I believe the normal gestation for a dog is approx. 9 weeks (I don't think breed determines this).
