I don't know all the reasons but i'm sure one of them is that Islam has a special emphasis on the universal brotherhood/sisterhood of religion, something other religions don't necessarily put so much on. People from deprived backgrounds, or minorities who feel persecuted by society are more likely to be drawn to a religious system where you are obliged to help your fellow muslims (up to a point, of course). This would to some extent explain its popularity amongst many black americans (who may also have felt that Christianity was the 'religion of slavery' or maintaing the status quo).

Then again, Untouchables in India often convert to Buddhism and Christianity because they see it as being more equal than the caste system upon which many Hindus place an important emphasis. Maybe Islam is especially popular with black americans because historically some African countries were Islamic, so it does not feel so alien as Buddhism etc.

Religion some what like as Karl Marx said "opium" and it looks like Islam’s opium type effect is more powerful than other religions, as persons who takes drug/opium feel good when people meet this type feel good people they also like to join them but as drug/opium use to give some bad effects I think Islam also have similar effects (1) when person is on drug/opium persons capability of thinking /brain power reduces look at fact below "In all these years there have been only two Muslim prize winners in science. Jews, on the other hand, have had 96 winners! There are 100 times as many Muslims in the world as Jews" I think this is due to reduced thinking power (2) when a person is on drug/opium in that condition chance of violence increases
Same thing true with Islam and violence by some its adherents (3) person who use to take drug/opium always want it same is true for Muslims they always want Islam
NOTE I am not saying Islam is same as drug/opium but it looks like there is similarity
So this is reason some accepting Islam they are seeing some feeling good and want to join them or after accepting for short time for trial began to feel good under its opium type effect

Who cares? Since when was truth subject to a popularity contest? Do you think that scientists one day thousands of years ago said, "Hey, let's get everyone thinking there's gravity," and suddenly there was gravity? Do you think if all six-plus billion people on the planet suddenly decided 2+2=5, not 4, that it would be true?

Funny how you fail to mention all the people converting away from islam at the same time. All religions see inflow and outflow. It's the natural order of things for people to move between groups.

Because it's different.It's a religion written to benefit men.The Koran tells the man he can have multiple wives,and many concubines.Doesn't sound like very devotional religion.I won't convert.When Jesus comes back one day he's going to set his foot right on that idol in mecca and crush it.

Even though we are going through very tough times and being demonised as Muslims it is Islam and it's peace, beauty and truth that gives us strength.People who have experienced Islam convert for the purity,simplicity,love and respect that Islam teaches for all.

because Islam is Abrahimic religion and most of those converters are from Abrahimic religions or they are familiar with the stories in the Koran and they don't find it hard to understand the core product of it, even Jesus story in there.
