My husband is a Marine and while he was in Iraq he started doing these online classes, where they gave him a laptop so he could do the classes, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and he gets to keep the computer if he passes and he gets some sort of credit towards college. Maybe you could look into it.

Dell sells discounted and tax free laptops to military. If they order online they can also get free shipping! There are other brands as well. Have the military member go to http://www.aafes.com/ and sign in.
