It is a Cup. 8 ounces are in a cup, so if you could measure out 2 ounces, that would be 1/4 Cup.
You can always use this site too. You can use it to convert all kinds of things for you.

"C" stand for cup! You are using an American recipe so you would have to convert the reipe to your European maeasurement.
One "C" (cup) is 8 ounces so a 1/4 cup is 2 ounces. Convert 2 fluid ounces to liters or mililiters or whatever you use! Most cookbooks have a conversion chart in them!

Cup! This may sound long winded, but, if you fill a cup up with water, to the brim. Transfer the water to a measuring jug, you'll know how much in milimeters your cup holds! Much easier for future recipes!

if it was cube is would say cube, it is defiently cup. A lot of recipes from the USA and Australia use cups and they differ in size so find out which country it is from, should be about 4 tablespoons.
