Asking from a general philosophical of view. What is it in people that motivates them to Believe in stories or concepts they have no rational reason to believe in? Why is it that a person will accept to believe something on faith?

I believe in a force greater than myself, there are gaps in science that can't be explained. I believe in a bit of everything, until I have undeniable proof to the contrary, I don't know what God is...it may just be us coming together & realizing we're more the same than different. I have to live my life with a certain amount of faith & hope that I'm here for a reason, otherwise I'd feel lost.

It's drummed into them as a child and since children are "designed" to believe whatever their parents say (it's a survival thing) they do. Most people don't grow out of it though because they find the prospect of life after death more appealing than death being an end.

Btw: I also find it weird that they discount vampires as not being real just because the Bible doesn't mention them but they're quite willing to believe things about talking donkeys & snakes and one couple giving rise to an entire world of people (all in 6000 years).

Okay.Do you have faith that you will wake up in the morning?
Do you believe the world will be business as usual for years to come?
Here is reality.None of us have the promise of tomorrow.
It doesn't matter what you believe or don't believe. It doesn't matter what color your skin is.It doesn't matter what language you speak, how much money you have.Nothing.
Everything in (this world) is vanity.Even the very air we breathe is vanity. Our youthful days were vanity. All that can be taken away in an instant.
What then?...

Why not! What difference does it make. It not as if science can tell you what made the Big go Bang? These systems can be really helpful, especially to a thoughtful, introspective person. Kant said "who can satisfy themselves with mere empirical knowledge?" I have always liked this.

For me, the evidence in the bible backs up what I see every day. When one begins to ask questions (like I did/do) of "why" the concept of God is not all that crazy. When that door is open than you question the after life, because if there is a God there must be something after this mortal life. How would we get there?

It is sort of like a domino affect that leads to Christ.

Well.... vampires are a production of Hollywood - but God, heaven, hell and demons are real. There is a spiritual realm we do not see with our eyes but is very real.
Learn about it... have you read "The Purpose-Driven LIfe" by Rick Warren? Clearly states the meaning of life and our spiritual life.

I am Indonesian, sorry, I take Indonesian language. Thank's, that all.

I believe because I've felt the presence of God in church. You call it illogical, but there is no evidence that there isn't something out there far greater then us, or what happens to us after we die. I will continue to believe because faith is a powerful tool.
